Jan Kerouac: A Life in Memory is the first biography of post-Beat novelist and poet Jan Kerouac.  Edited by Gerald Nicosia, it contains contributions by Nicosia, Phil Cousineau, Brenda Knight, Aram Saroyan, Brad Parker, John Allen Cassady, R.B. Morris, Jacques Kirouac, Adiel Gorel, Lee Harris, Mary Emmerick, Lynn Kushel Archer, Carl Macki, John Zielinski, Buddah (John Paul Pirolli), and Dan McKenzie, as well as a long interview with Jan by Nicosia and over 40 photographs.  The book, 189 pages with color cover and black-and-white illustrations, will be signed and personalized by Gerald Nicosia upon request.  It can be ordered postpaid with check or money order for $25 to Gerald Nicosia, P.O. Box 130, Corte Madera, CA 94976-0130.  Because of increased postal rates, orders from out of the country cost $32 postpaid, and only bank checks or international postal money orders in U.S. dollars are accepted.

Books are available at City Lights Bookstore and the Beat Museum in San Francisco and at Book Passage and the Mill Valley Book Depot in Marin County.

A SPECIAL CELEBRATION will be held for the book, to remember Jan Kerouac, and to honor the actual Kerouac/Kirouac family on Saturday, October 3, 2009, 3-5PM, during Kerouac Week in Lowell, Mass.  This celebration will be held in Edson Hall of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church—where Jan Kerouac herself appeared in person in October 1994.  The address is 10 Kirk Street (just one block off Merrimack St.) in downtown Lowell, Mass.  The event is free and open to the public.  It will be hosted by Gerald Nicosia, and among the expected attendees are Jacques Kirouac, Founding President of the Kerouac Family Association (L’Association des familles Kirouac) and other Kerouac family members from both Quebec and New England, as well as some of Jack Kerouac’s cousins from the Nashua area.  For information call 415-924-2270.
